Three Day Weekend!!

What a glorious weekend!! I took Friday off (can you believe I actually took a personal day?!?! What is this world coming to?!?!) to spend a lover-ly three day weekend with my friend Tiff and the rest of the gang (Deb, Stacie and Erin). Tiff was up visiting for four days and it turned out to be a great time. We did some stamping, chatting, laughing, sleeping and drinking :) What more could you want out of a three day weekend with good friends?!?! :) Thanks to everyone for making it a great event- it was just the trick to rejuvenate and remind me how lucky I am !! I love you guys!!

The weekend also brought the regional cross country races and I went to cheer on my students- it’s fun watching them come in the last leg of the course. We even have 2 kids from the district going to state next week! Way to go Hunter and Katiya! (both White Mountain students!)

Running Meet

This week had been the longest on record I'm sure. Thankfully the weekend came and it was a relatively mellow weekend. Movie watching and crafting a little. . . I aslo helped at the district cross country running meet that was here in UNK on Saturday. Runners from across the 15 schools in the district came to town and participated in a truely "cross" country run that included tundra, hills and roads. I stood at a strategic corner to prevent any short cuts (but really, I was just a cheerleader for the kids!). The kids and I lucked out with dry weather and a slight breeze to help wiht the bugs.

All in all a good weekend- hope you had a good one too.

Ethiopian Night

Well I did it again- I shared my summer travels with friends through a meal and a viewing of my pictures. We tasted shiro and dorowat (a spicy bean dip of sorts, and stewed chicken in red pepper sauce).

The food wasn't perfect, but it sure was hot enough to keep everyone talking about it!! I also had some dabbo (bread), kolo (baked barley) and some candy treats from the trip (cardomon candy is very unique). I set up a projector on the wall to share a selection of pictures (with over 1000 to choose from, it wasn't an easy choice :) and the stories that went with them. It was great fun and turned out better than I had planned :)

thanks to all who made the evening possible-

Labor Day Activities

Labor day weekend was fantastic!! Blue sky's, warm sunshine, outdoor activities and friends. . . it was great.

Here are a few pictures of the fun- I went out berry picking a couple of times and the fall colors are beginning to show themselves in all of their glory.

I also went fishing up river with the 'gang' and had a little picnic on the beach. The sun was glorious, but the bugs were horrific. No one can remember them being this bad before. . .

Hope you all had a good weekend yourselves!!
