Always an Adventure

My attempt at keeping friends and family informed about my doings . . . boring or exciting, it will all be here!

Prom. . .

This year we were in charge of prom. We being the junior class, and the class sponsors (myself, and an english teacher, Jannelle). We've been planning since January, and it is quite the process to get 14 juniors to get stuff done. It's great to see them take leadership rolls, and to step up to the task at hand. We spent nearly $4,000 for a one time event- makes me sick to my stomach to be honest. And I haven't been shy about sharing that opinion with the kids. We were able to save some decorations- maybe to be used at future dances, or graduation next year. That helped redeem the situation a little. Very little.

Preparation took from Friday 4-10pm and then Saturday 11-4. And then it was all cleaned up in less than 6 hours. . . craziness.

The prom itself went off without a hitch. I ended up making the cake, I guess I should say decorating it. It has been a long time since I made a cake, and it reminded me of being home and helping mom with all of her cakes back in the day. It wasn't anything fancy, but it did the trick, and the whole cake was eaten before the night was through- so I guess it was okay :)

Here is Karis and I at prom. . .
